Jenny ran through the checkered hallway, passing dozens of closed doors. Every one she tried to open led to a being or sight more tormenting then the never ending horror of the hallways.
Left, right, or straight ahead?
Which one! She screamed in her head, but only in her head. She would not show the masked people fear.
A green door stood out from every other one on
the right. Jenny opened it hoping to find some kind of escape. Instead she found a woman sitting on a stool dressed in a long black garb.
"Come here, child..." she didn't turn towards Jenny, but kept spinning thread on a needle. "Don't worry, child. You'll be withe the others soon.
The woman turned to face Jenny with only an ashen skull for a face. The thread wasn't wool, but human skin. Jenny grimaced at what the skin was still connected to. Bubbling over with revolt and horrifying terror, Jenny slammed the door and ran the opposite way down the corridor screaming. Why had this happened.

P4rT 2 *Loving Crucifixion*

When Jenny and Kelly had found out about the Circus being in town, they weren't enthralled. But after they heard that some of the cutest single guys from their school were going, they decided it couldn't hurt. All three determined that it would be best to go after after school got out on Friday, then at 8 pm they would meet and got to the circus together.
"Do you have everything?" Her father asked. His curious eyes watching her closely.
"Yeah dad whatever." Jenny barely responded. God. Why did her dad have to be so clingy?
She grabbed her purse, filled with her sunscreen and sunglasses, and headed towards the door.
"Do you need a ride?" Her dad was persistent, but the honks from Kelly's BMW interrupted him.
"No, dad." She said sternly.
"Do you remember what I told you?" He tried again.
"Don't talk to strangers, keep a consistent watch on my belongings, and stick with a buddy... I get it, dad." She tediously repeated the rules he dictated to her earlier.
"Be safe, and home by ten." He walked her out to their porch as Kelly's honking became more persistent.
"Yeah... Bye." She quickly ran to Kelly's car as fast as she could in her high heels and climbed in.
Jenny's father watched as Kelly's car backed out of their drive and sped off.
"You guys fighting again?" Kelly always knew how Jenny felt. Her mascara hide nothing from her best friend.
"He's just so clingy. You think he would have loosened the leash after my fifteenth birthday." Jenny grumbled while adding on another layer of lipstick.
"Well, my dad would probably be just as clingy if my mom had died in a car accident." Kelly had a point. Ever since Jenny's mom had died in the car accident three years ago, her father always made her recite what to do if an accident occurred. Now that she thought about it her father must be worried everyday.
"So," Jenny tried to get the topic out of the air. "Whose gonna be at the circus?"
"Oh! I heard Jason Abernath was gonna be their, and his too cute friends."
They kept talking on until they got to the lot where the circus had opened just that week. The parking lot was nearly packed, but they found an opening near the exit.
"Hey, Jason!" Kelly called and trotted towards three other boys, Jenny followed close behind. They chatted for a moment before Jason decided it was time to go in.
"Ready?" Kelly rapped her arms around both of the other boys and Jason offered his arm to Jenny.
After touring several other fun booths, wolfing down some cotton candy, and getting a butterfly painted on her face, Jenny thought that nothing could go wrong.
They were nearing the main tent when Jenny saw some performers in front of the tents, out of the corner of her eye.
Their masks and costumes looked like they came from a twisted version of an ALICE IN WONDERLAND book. Several were on stilts and walking around and one was swallowing fire in front of a huge awestruck crowd. Most of the masks depicted happiness, others showed melancholy or anger. One mask was even crying.
Jenny stopped and stared, mid bite on a caramel apple, when one of the jousters turned in her direction. His mask hid his face so she couldn't tell if she was making eye contact. One particular mask bore a similar resemblance to a smiling skull, and there appeared to be two bloodshot eyes in the sockets. She couldn't stop staring and the skull masked jouster took it as an invitation to perform. He tiptoed over to Jenny, knelt on one knee and pulled a fake bouquet of paper flowers out of the air. Jenny watched awestruck as the jouster handed her the flowers. This caught Jason's attention.
"What's going on?"
Jenny didn't answer but continued to hold the paper flowers and watch the jouster. For a moment she thought she saw the jouster's eyes underneath the mask, but her concentration was broken when the paper flowers she held exploded. It wasn't a big explosion, just big enough for Jenny to scream and jump back.
Several people watching laughed, but Jenny felt humiliated. The skull masked jouster bowed then turned to rejoin the other performers.
"What the... That freak!" Jason started off towards the direction of the performers.
"Wait, Jason!" Jenny yelled, broken from her shock, and tried to coax him back but he ignored her and kept strutting towards the jouster.
"Common, Jenny. Lets see what happens." Kelly, now holding onto a giant pink, droopy eyed puppy, grabbed onto her arm and held her back.
"Hey!" Jason called menacingly towards the skull masked jouster. The skull masked jouster didn't have time to turn before Jason landed a hard punch on his jaw.
The jouster fell to the ground as a dark liquid came from the opening in the mask. Jenny figured it was blood.
"Jason!" Jenny tried another time, but it didn't work.
"Whats your deal?" Jason circled the crouched jouster and yelled down at him.
The jouster didn't reply, but kept on the ground.
By now the other masked performers had stopped and watched the show along with a small crowd. All showing no attempt to save the skull masked jouster.
"You freak!" Jason stamped his foot down on the jousters back and kept it there till his chest was pressed into the ground.
"Jason! Stop! It was just a joke!" Jenny yelled from the restrictions of Kelly.
"Lets see your real face!" Jason heaved the skull masked jouster off the ground and brought him up towards his face. With one rip Jason pulled off the mask of the Jouster to reveal an hollow black socket. Jenny couldn't even scream, she just watched in horrified terror. With a loud yelp Jason dropped the jouster and his mask. With a brisk move the mask was again on the face of the jouster with it's bloodshot eyes looking directly at Jason and Jenny. The crowd that had grown was now dissipated into a sea of faces that lead to the main tent. Jenny took one look at Jason's still form and back at the jouster, but no one with a mask was their.
Jason strutted back over to the others murmuring to himself, and no matter how Jenny tried, Jason refused to speak of the face-less jouster.
As if nothing happened the three boys gestured towards the main tent and Jenny just went along, clinging to Jason's arm. She wouldn't even let her self think about the jouster or consider turning around and leaving.
I must have been just another joke. An illusion.
She repeated this to herself while the group shuffled towards the main tent in a huddled crowd.
